Every guide below is priced from the vendors' own pages at 500, 2,500 and 10,000 subscribers, on both billing cycles, and carries the month we checked. We file them by what you're trying to decide rather than by brand — you rarely arrive looking for a company, you arrive with a question.
Mailchimp's free tier stops at 250 contacts and paid overages bill themselves, which is why most of its customers end up shopping. Five alternatives priced from official pages: Kit's free plan runs to 10,000 subscribers, Brevo starts at $9 a month, MailerLite at $12, ActiveCampaign at $15 billed annually and GetResponse at $19 for 1,000 subscribers — with the billing trap each one keeps quiet.
The two cheapest credible platforms in the category, priced on completely different axes. MailerLite publishes its full ladder and gives every paid plan the full feature set; Brevo starts lower at $9 but holds automation back for its $18 tier. Includes MailerLite's cumulative-subscriber billing rule and the regional price spread on both.
Every guide on this site follows the same three rules: figures come from the vendor's own pricing page or plan documentation, monthly and annual billing are priced separately, and anything we cannot source does not go on the page. The result is a comparison you can check yourself, gaps included. Read how we verify prices, or see how the site earns money.
